Große apulische rotfigurige Pelike der Gruppe von Kopenhagen 4223.
340 - 330 v. Chr. H 35,7cm, ø Körper 22,5cm. Weintransportgefäß in Amphorenform für das Symposion. Auf der Vorderseite schreiten eine junge Frau und ein ihr folgender Eros gemeinsam nach links. Sie trägt einen Chiton und auf dem Kopf einen Sakkos sowie reichen Schmuck und hält eine große Schachtel sowie ein Alabastron, während der Eros in den Händen einen Fächer und eine Tänie hält. Rückwärtig zwei Manteljünglinge im Gespräch, zwischen ihnen - ein ungewöhnlicher Zusatz - zwei Lorbeerbäumchen. Aufwändiger Einsatz von weißer und gelber Farbe.
Mit sehr altem Sammlerzettel! Provenienz: Ex Sammlung Freiherr von Crailsheim, Süddeutschland, in Familienbesitz seit vor 1960.
Large Apulian red-figure pelike of the Group of Copenhagen 4223. 340 - 330 BC. Height 35,7cm, ø corpus 22,5cm. Amphora-shaped symposion vessel for wine. On the frontside a young woman accompanied by an Eros to left. She wearings a chiton, sakkos and rich jewellery and holds a large box and an alabastron, Eros carries a fan and a tainia. Backside two draped youths in a discussion, between them, as a rare detail, two laurel trees. Elaborate usage of white and yellow colour.
With an old collectors label! Few small chips at mouth and foot and at the surface of the corpus, otherwise intact. In the property of a German family since before 1960.
