Große stehende Buddha-Statue.
Thailand, frühes 19. Jahrhundert, Rattanakosin-Periode. H 157cm (mit Sockel), B ca. 44cm. Bronze, im Wachsausschmelzverfahren gegossen, mit originaler dunkelbrauner bis grünlicher Patina und fragmentarisch erhaltener Feuervergoldung. Vollplastische Darstellung des Buddha in stehender Haltung mit Flammen-Ushnisha. Die Figur steht auf einem stilisierten mehrstufigen Lotuspodest. Die Hände ruhen kontemplativ vor dem schlank proportionierten Körper mit geschwungenem Faltenwurf der Mönchsrobe. Das Gesicht zeigt klassische Idealisierung mit gesenktem Blick, feinen Gesichtszügen und ruhigem Ausdruck. Langgezogene Ohrläppchen und lange Finger. Stilistisch in Tradition der späten Ayutthaya-Kunst. Rückseite des Körpers bewusst abgeflacht zur wandnahen oder nischenhaften Aufstellung. Statue und Sockel separat verarbeitet und mittels eines originalen Stecksystems (konischer Zapfen) miteinander verbunden. Ausdrucksstarkes Werk buddhistischer Sakralkunst!

Large standing statue of Buddha. Thailand, early 19th century, Rattanakosin period. H 157cm (with plinth), W ca. 44cm. Bronze, cast using the lost wax technique, with original dark brown to greenish patina and fragmentary fire gilding. Fully sculpted depiction of the Buddha in a standing posture with flaming ushnisha. The figure stands on a stylised multi-tiered lotus pedestal. The hands rest contemplatively in front of the slenderly proportioned body with the curved folds of the monks robe. The face shows classical idealisation with a lowered gaze, fine facial features and a calm expression. Elongated earlobes and long fingers. Stylistically in the tradition of late Ayutthaya art. Back of the body deliberately flattened for placement close to the wall or in a niche. Statue and pedestal worked separately and joined together by means of an original plug-in system (conical peg).An expressive work of Buddhist religious art! Well preserved. Age-related patina, minor knocks and chips, fragments of gilding preserved.

Torso einer Khmer-Statue.
Angkor Borei oder Prakho Chan, 7. - 9. Jh. n. Chr. L 36cm, B 27cm. Dunkelgrauer Sandstein. Schmuckloser Torso, vermutlich des Buddha. Sinnliche Proportionen. Arme und untere Extremitäten fehlen. Hals mit korpulenten Nackenringen, Ansätze einer im Relief ornamentierten Schärpe am unteren Rand. Modern gesockelt.

Torso of a Khmer statue. Angkor Borei or Prakho Chan, 7th - 9th century AD. L 36cm, W 27cm. Dark grey sandstone. Unadorned torso, presumably of the Buddha. Sensual proportions. Arms and lower extremities missing. Neck with corpulent neck rings, the beginnings of a sash ornamented in relief on the lower edge. Modern moulding. Major chipping on the chest, abdomen and shoulder blades. Age-related mineralogical discolouration.

Gandhara, 2. - 3. Jh. n. Chr. H 12,3cm und mit Ständer 21,4cm. Weich modellierter Kopf mit den charakteristischen langen Ohrläppchen, gewellten Haaren und Ushnisha.

Head of Buddha made of stucco. Gandhara, 2nd - 3rd century AD. H 12.3cm and with stand 21.4cm. Softly sculpted head with characteristic long earlobes, wavy hair, and ushnisha. Broken in the neck and modern socket.

Relief von einer Stupabasis mit Buddha.
Gandhara, 2. - 3. Jh. n. Chr. H 12,2cm und mit Basis 14,4cm, B 22cm, T 5,2cm. Grauer Schiefer. Zentral Buddha im Lotussitz auf einem Podest unter dem Bodibaum sitzend, rechts und links Gabenbringer. Der linke mit vollem Haar bringt Ähren, der rechte ist kahlrasiert und hat die typischen langen Ohrläppchen und offeriert eine Axt. Seitlich Pilaster mit Akanthuskapitellen, oben ein Architrav mit gezacktem Ornament. Von höchster, ganz seltener Qualität! Mit Rechnung von 1988 (Kopie)!

Relief from a stupa base with Buddha. Gandhara, 2nd - 3rd century AD. H 12,2cm and with base 14,4cm, W 22cm, D 5,2cm. Grey shist. In the center is Buddha sitting in the lotus position on a pedestal under the Bodi tree, with gift bringers on the right and left. The one on the left with a full head of hair brings ears of corn, the one on the right is shaved and has the typical long earlobes and offers an axe. On the side there are pilasters with acanthus capitals, at the top an architrave with jagged ornament. Of highest, very rare quality! With invoice from 1988 (copy)! Small chips, otherwise intact, mounted on beautiful black base. Acquired 1988 from Spink & Son Ltd., London.

Tibet oder Nepal, 18. Jh. L 22cm, Ø 10cm. Vergoldete Bronze, Hohlkörper. Fragment eines leicht gekrümmten Daumen einer monumentalen Buddha-Figur. Reliefierter Nagel und Hautfalten. Breiter in den Körper geschobener Rand mit zwei Löchern zum Fixieren an der Statue.

Monumental fragment of a thumb. Tibet or Nepal, 18th century. L 22cm, Ø 10cm. Gilt bronze, hollow body. Fragment of a slightly curved thumb of a monumental Buddha figure. Relieved nail and skin folds. Wide rim pushed into the body with two holes for fixing to the statue. Patinated inside. Age-related gold abrasion. Vertical superficial crack on the front, small loss to the rim.

Collection of small bone reliefs from ancient cultures. Among them are three heads from Gandhara, including a fantastic Buddha head and two heads of bearded men, 4th - 5th century AD. H 2cm to 3.3cm. Further bearded mens heads, one from the Persian period, 5th - 3rd century BC, and one of a Parthian in typical costume, 2nd century BC - 3rd century AD. H 3.1cm and 4.3cm. Finally, a Coptic plaque with a rider, possibly a saint, 4th - 6th century AD. H 3.4cm. 6 pieces! All with small defects.
